Barbara Hendrickson


Based in Toronto, Ontario, Barbara Hendrickson*, is the Managing Partner and Founder of BAX Securities Law. Barbara has been involved in numerous transactions as counsel to a variety of public and private companies, limited partnerships, and investment funds advising them on capital raising, M&A transactions, take-overs, corporate structuring, fund formation, debt & equity financing, corporate governance strategies and effective securities compliance programs. Barbara specializes in real estate syndication, private equity, venture capital and investment funds. As a former regulator and experienced securities lawyer, Barbara brings a special combination of skills and abilities to her work.

Barbara is a marathon runner including the New York and Chicago Marathons and has completed numerous half marathons.

Awards & Recognition

Member of the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) Fintech Advisory Forum which is a forum to discuss fintech innovations and related regulatory issues. Comprised of fintech industry professionals and experts, the forum advises BCSC staff on fintech trends and developments, including opportunities and risks. As well, the forum provides input on fintech issues in the securities industry and related securities law issues. Members are selected based on their experience in current and developing areas of fintech. Knowledge of BC capital markets, technological expertise, and familiarity with issues faced by fintech companies are also desired assets.

Past Member of the Securities Advisory Committee (SAC). SAC provides advice to the Ontario Securities Commission and staff on a variety of matters including legislative and policy initiatives and important capital markets trends and brings various issues to the attention of the Commission and staff.
Received the Women’s Law Association of Ontario President’s Award, an award recognizing her substantial contribution and commitment to the promotion of women in law and as a leader in the legal profession.

Received the prestigious 2014 Arbor Award for her contributions to the University of Toronto.

Women’s Law Association of Ontario (“WLAO”) (1994 – present)

      Member of the Women’s Law Association of Ontario’s Advisory Council which is made up to past presidents, past board members and long serving members.  The WLAO Advisory Council was created to guide and assist the WLAO Board to meet its stated mission of empowering women in the legal profession by providing a collective voice and advocating for equality, diversity and change.  The WLAO Advisory Council serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to the Board of Directors.

      Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (“PDAC”) (2006 – 2018)

      Past Member of the Securities Committee.

      Served three terms as an elected board member of the PDAC, past Co-Chair of the PDAC Securities Committee and past Member of the Securities Committee, the Nomination Committee, the Convention Planning Committee and the ad hoc Executive Director Search Committee.
