Natalie Ochrym*

Background

Natalie Ochrym is of counsel with BAX Securities Law providing advice in the financial services area including advising entities subject to Canadian anti-money laundering (AML), anti-terrorist financing and economic sanctions legislation acting for financial institutions, domestic and foreign money services businesses, foreign exchange businesses, securities dealers, real estate brokerages and developers, dealers in virtual currencies and payment processors, among others. Natalie has over 30 years of international corporate, compliance, operational risk, governance and M&A experience advising senior business managers and boards of directors.

Natalie began her professional career at Torys LLP, a major Canadian law firm, and left private practice a few years later to join a major Canadian-based financial institution with operations in Canada, the United States, the U.K. and many countries in Asia.  She held progressively senior roles within that organization, included serving in Hong Kong as Asia General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, and as the world-wide Senior Vice-President and Chief Compliance Officer based in Toronto.  She later accepted the role of General Counsel and Senior Vice-President, Human Resources and Communications at another Canadian financial institution.

Natalie currently advises financial institutions and other companies with respect to legal, compliance and governance issues.  She is also the co-founder of Grace Compliance Services Inc., which assists organizations with their risk management and regulatory compliance matters.
